Dungeon Crawler Carl Bonus Chapters

Book 1: Rory
Rory, one of the goblins that Donut had given a name to, is sitting with the other goblins, in their destroyed lab, while they are all smoking drugs that they stole from the llamas. The goblins raided the llamas and killed a bunch of them because the goblins had raided their lab and blew up a bunch of their babies (orrrrr Donut and Carl did that and blamed it on the llamas).
Rory knows they are in the dungeon. All the monsters from the first and second floor know but the ones on the third floor have no idea. Rory wishes she could forget sometimes.
Rory starts naming all the other goblins around her because she likes that she has a name. She gets a message in her interface from Damien. He is a human, but not like Carl, who is always yelling at them. When she messages back, it shows her name as just her number, she says out loud that she has a name now, and then the interface changes. She gets another message from Damien asking if she just changed her own name, when she says yes, he says stay where you are, I’m sending someone. This makes her nervous. She tries to message back but it says “message not delivered” and she has never gotten that before.
She remembers another time when a team had come. She called them hardshells for their armor. She tells everyone she thinks they are coming. The last time they saw them, they had completely wiped out another mob for misbehaving. Rory and Lorelai decide they are fighting back.
When the hardshells arrive, the goblins have barricaded them out. Rory can hear them talking and they’re talking about Donut and how Donut and Carl had blown up all the goblins' babies. Rory feels emotions she doesn’t have a name for. Donut had asked her to come with her, Donut was nice, and then Donut had gone and blown up all the babies. Donut was just like all the other Crawlers.
The goblins blew up the barricades and killed all the hardshells. Then they get a notification that the area is under quarantine and will be cleansed.
Rory knows she’s going to die, but this time seems different for some reason. She gets another message, “What do you want?” She thinks about it and decides she wants revenge.
Rory and all the goblins are transported to a new place. A very large room with a weird ground (us humans call this carpet). She sees Grandma Llama with a small group of llamas in another corner. She gets a message, “Welcome Rory. Welcome Backstage. You will reenter the playing arena soon.”
Book 2: Grandma Llama
Grandma Llama and two other idiot llamas have arrived. Grandma Llama dreams of her husband and a yellow temple. She used to be a guard there and there used to be a young elf girl who was nice and brushed her hair. But she doesn’t believe any of that was real.
The goblins have stolen their drugs, killed most of the llamas including Grandma Llama’s son, and are smoking all of the drugs.
There are other monsters there - from the first floor, second, and Grandma thinks maybe the third. There are round robots that float around the room trying to maintain order. The monsters have all sectioned themselves off and claimed a piece of the big rectangular room for themselves. Grandma remarks that the the mobs on the first and second floor know they are in the dungeon but the third floor mobs don’t know this.
A notification appears saying the third floor is over, please stand by. One of the flying robots tells Grandma that she needs to follow it, but the other two llamas need to stay put. Grandma, along with the other leaders of the groups, are led down a hallway. Grandma is surprised when an elf girl, similar to that from her dreams, is there. Some of the mob start fighting while the elf girl is trying to maintain order. One of the goblins asks if everyone there has a name and Grandma gets a whole bunch of memories. Everyone in the room all of a sudden gets hit with the same wave of memories. She is so confused - who is she really? She knew she was made by the dungeon but is that really true?
She remembers that the dream of the yellow temple wasn’t a dream. It was real. She was a guard at a blessing temple and the crawlers used to be happy to see her and she was always safe. There was a crawler, he had killed the elf girl, Grandma's husband told her to run, so she did. Then when the next dungeon started, everything changed. Until another crawler came around and fucked it all up again.
The elf girl says that they are all going through a memory breach. Normally when this happens, they are killed and recycled, but not today. Think of her as a game guide, but not for crawlers. Her name is Menerva and they are her Dungeon Master Generals. They are backstage at the Pineapple Cabaret. She says the backstage area is the dungeon's 17th floor. She says they are somewhere Crawlers can’t go, they are under the AI, but it's not a dungeon floor. Menerva tells them that six of the 18 floors are always the same - 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18. But no crawler has made it past the 12th floor so no one has ever seen the 13-17 floors. The 17th floor is the final test before the crawlers “face the great Scolopendra. On this 17th floor is where they will face all the monsters from the previous floors, but in reverse order of strength.” The floor will be in this one room. Menvera says this ten can build anything they want, a mini dungeon, for the Crawlers to test them. Grandma Llama asked what happens to all the monsters from the previous seasons if no Crawler makes it past the 12th floor? Menvera says they go to “the beautiful place. A place of forever safety and no crawlers and no danger. You get to go to the Pineapple Cabaret.” Menvera smiles at them but Grandma Llama feels very uneasy.
Book 3: Growler Gary
Gary wakes up after dreaming about Jumping Jen-Jen. He reaches for a bottle of alcohol but can’t find one because he isn’t in his bar anymore, he is laying on the carpet in the backstage area. He wakes up and a goblin is right in his face. A bunch of other monsters are all constructing things around him. The goblin has a little demon monster baby thing on a leash and says she is trying to train it. When the demon baby tries to bite Gary, the goblin sprays it with a spray bottle.
Gary is surprised when words appear above the goblin letting him know that her name is Rory and that she is a priestess of the Cabaret and Comanager of the Backstage Death Maze. Rory is trying to tell Gary things but he is distracted by all the construction going on around him. Some fairies are trying to make something called a “Drop Screamer” and are deciding if it should breathe fire. Rory smacks Gary and tells him that she knows he is confused but he is going to go meet a special woman named Menerva and learn about a place called the Pineapple Cabaret. All Gary wants to know if this Menerva has alcohol.
They had to walk through a bunch of hallways to get to her. Rory tells him that they are building a series of hallways and that there were a lot of traps. Gary walks by a sign above a door that says, “Dezperado Klub. So Fun it Hurtz. Home of da Dirty Shirely and More!” He gets excited thinking it's a bar but Rory tells him it's a trap not a real bar. Rory leads him though a doorway and Gary feels pressure change in his ears. In the room is a high elf named Menerva. She is a non-combatant trustee. Menerva asks Rory if she’s woken Gary up yet, she said she tried but it hasn’t worked. Menerva tells her to try again. Rory tells Gary that everything he thinks he knows isn’t real. Menerva tells her to ask Gary what is the earliest thing he remembers and give him the “impossible contradictions”. This doesn’t help as Rory doesn’t know what a contradiction is. But Gary does. He explains what it is while talking about himself in the third person. Rory then proceeds to tell Gary about a wonderful place and all they had to do to get there was to build this special maze just right.
Rory leaves but Gary stays with Menerva. Gary remembers that Jen-Jen was real. He remembers several versions of her but they all smelled the same and he always thought she was beautiful. Menerva says that Gary is key-bound. That it should have gone away with the collapse of the floor, but it didn’t. So if Gary dies, he will just regenerate here instead of in his bar. Menerva thinks Gary will be a good candidate to test certain areas of the maze.
Menerva also tells Gary that he has to get sober. If Rory and the goblins can get over drugs, he can get through his detox. He asks her if the same people who built the Iron Tangle also built Pineapple Cabaret. She doesn’t answer, just tells him to get to work.
Gary knicks a bottle from Menerva and leaves the room. As he’s walking down the hall, another door opens and a llama comes out and after some back and forth arguing, another llama from inside yells at both of them and they go into the room. It’s Grandma Llama. She tells him that she thinks they are of the same mind - that he isn’t so sure he can trust anything Menerva is saying. Menerva says that if Gary helps her, she will help him get a menu and he can make his own alcohol, he can make anything he wants. And what does Gary want to make (other than alcohol)? Jen-Jen.
Gary agrees to join Grandma Llama.
Book 4: Cock-a-doodle-doo
Cock-a-doodle-doo, who I am referring to as Doodle from now on, is working on a trap safe room with two other dumb, horny, hamsters - Nibbles and Buttercup (who are also his brother and sister). Grandma Llama has given them three traps for this room and Nibbles and Buttercup have already set two. Doodle has a plan for the third one and decides to chat with Gary to see if Gary can help.
From this chat we learn that Gary has “someone” he’d like Doodle to meet. Doodle says that Rory says they have “services” tonight and that Nigel (floating brain) wants to hang out too. Gary tells Doodle he should ditch the two idiot hamsters. Doodle says he can’t because they’re his siblings and that Tillie loved them and he will protect them. Gary comments that he hopes they aren’t really siblings because of how much the other two like to fuck. Unfortunately, Doodle tells him that they are twins.
Nigel comes over and asks Doodle if he is going to play chess tonight. Doodle says Gary wants him to come over. Nigel tells him that Gary has made another gnoll woman. Apparently, Gary has made a bunch of Jen-Jens that keep getting “banished to the back room”.
We learn that when Doodle was on the third floor, he had been part of a quest that never got triggered. Then the floor collapsed, but they were all taken to the fifth floor, until they got a notification that said, “Haha. Just kidding. It’s over now. We made up. You can go back to storage.” Then, instead of storage, they ended up meeting Menerva and working backstage.
Menerva told them that they were repurposed from their life on Earth and they shouldn’t be self aware but they are.
Doodle decided not to go to any of the events he was invited to. Instead, he left the two hornballs at home, and he went to spy on the llamas.
Grandma Llama, Tea Bag, Medium Arturo, a succubus, an ogre, a bugbear, a troll, a female orc, and others were meeting and arguing. The ogre says they need to wait until the 9th or 10th floor when all the Crawlers are dead. He says the dungeon doesn’t end until the 12th floor is done when the Ascendency battles are over. Grandma Llama says as soon as the last Crawler is dead, “all the non-Scolopendra levels” get shut down and they probably won’t get any notice. Grandma Llama says they have to build this level, and who knows, maybe they are doing this with other floors too. The ogre says they need the gnoll, Gary, on their side. Once that happens, then the ogre will feel okay with “moving against Menerva and making her tell us the truth”. Grandma Llama says she has a plan for Gary and it involves this orc named Willow Joy. Willow says she has a plan but first, they should probably deal with the rodent. Doodle ran for his life.Book 5:
Book 5: Willow Joy
Willow is a changeling who is masquering as Spaghetti the Goblin and hanging out with Growler Gary. Willow felt bad about lying to Gary but thought this was for his own good. We find out that Gary has been making replicas of Jen-Jen, his previous lover/friend. He has made five so far and something keeps happening to them so he makes another one. Grandma Llama needs Willow to find out what is happening…..and to also get rid of the current version of Jen-Jen and change into her. That way, she could convince Gary to do whatever Grandma wanted.
Also, poor Gary. He is now the official trap tester which means he dies all the time. Again.
With all of this dying, Gary was almost to level 100, while Willow was stuck at 25. Willow says everyone assumed she came from the 5th floor and was a badass warrior changeling but she wasn’t. But actually, she came from the 18th floor. From Club Scolopendra. She used to be a room attendant, a massage NPC, or a hooker. From season to season, the NPCs were recycled but if you had a customer really like you, they could request you every season. Willow has been the attendant for the Abbess - some head priestess.
Every season, Abbess would bring six other priestesses with her and they would spend the first few weeks of the game praying. Then, Abbess would choose a priestess to go to the 12th floor and “drive” a goddess, Eris, that they sponsor. The rest of the priestesses would spend the rest of the season partying it up.
Willow has always been aware - she has known what she is and what the game is.
This season was different. The priestess was set to go into the game, but the Valtay took over, someone out bid Abbess, and sponsored Eris instead. Abbess got super pissed and left the club saying she was never returning. Willow had gotten a message saying she was being reassigned, so she ran. She ran until she was completely lost. And then she got a message, “what do you want?” So she ended up backstage.
Willow knew this was all fake, there was no Pineapple Cabaret. And she was sick of being told what to do. She fell in with Grandma Llama and her group of “rebels” - those who did not believe the lie of the Cabaret and was trying to fight it. But she realized that they didn’t even really know everything. They had no idea the full extent of the game, the showrunners, the worlds outside of it.
Gary is finally in a deep sleep so Willow messages the two llamas who are waiting outside to get ready because she’s going to bring out Jen-Jen but they message her and tell her no, someone else has arrived. It’s Buttercup (one of the horny hamsters) looking for Doodle. Willow had last seen him spying on them during a meeting but nobody has seen Doodle since.
Willow goes back inside and grabs Jen-Jen but touching her makes her feel alarmed. There’s only one thing that changelings shouldn’t touch - mimics. At this moment, Jen-Jen opens her eyes and bites down on Willow's neck. The two llamas rushed inside, with Larry the rat-kin. Larry bit one of the llamas heads off.
The mimic tells Willow that the system won’t let Gary make a new gnoll or a changeling so he’s been making mimics. They keep running away because they have plans of their own. Willow then notices that there are mimics everywhere. Two have taken over the llamas and when she looks back at Jen-Jen, she sees herself.
It ends with (presumably) the mimics killing Willow.Book 6: Jelly Bun
Book 6: Jelly Bun
This is Rory’s weird little baby thing she keeps on a leash.
Menerva tells everyone that the maze is built and functional. Jelly Bun is sitting on top of Rory’s head and when Rory falls to the ground crying, Lorelai is standing next to her and sneers at her. Little Jelly Bun growls at her because she knows this isn’t the real Lorelai - she’s a shadow mimic. A lot of the NPCs were now shadow mimics. Jelly Bun counts 30 out of 150 NPCs.
After the meeting, Rory and Jelly Bun went to Menerva’s office and Rory asked to see the Cabaret again. Apparently Menerva had shown it to Rory and it can be accessed by a wall in her office. Menerva finally agreed and opened the wall. Jelly was inching towards the opening. It looked like a huge meadow, with sunny skies, and a building with some ogres coming out of it laughing. Menerva says she has a friend there, Herot, and she seems sad. Jelly accidentally crossed the threshold and pulled Rory in with her. As they are laying on the ground, something jumps onto Jelly's head and tries to jump through the opening but he didn’t make it as the portal closed.
It’s Doodle. Doodle is very upset he missed the opening and tells Rory that they gotta get out of there, it's not safe here. Jelly feels very scared and smells a scent - of Gods. Then she hears a voice in her head telling her that it's not just any gods, it's the real ones, the real old ones. They found this place, they’ve been hiding here, this is how they move in between worlds.
Jelly screams and the two ogres turn and look at them. Doodle tells them to run as the two ogres start running at them.Book 7:
